In this particular page, i'll be sharing with you people about my experiences and also process before, while and after doing the community service and also my thoughts about it.

Moving on, first , let me talk about what are we required to do in this community service module. We were given the task to perform various community service for people where the venue is located at ULU MELAKA ORANG ASLI VILLAGE, SERENDAH , SELANGOR with the motive of helping the people there lead a better/convenient life.

Furthermore, going into the details, before going to the Orang Asli Village, we will need to organise everything accordingly to ensure that everything goes accordingly to the way we planned instead of just going there unprepared where groups will be going there separately adding up to only 2 days in total to complete the task we planned to do on the day. I was given the opportunity to be a part of Group 2, which we are given the task to paint and also clean the surrounding area of the the Orang Asli Village. A group meeting was held on April 22 by our group leader - Leon and after discussing for almost 1 hour and 10 mins,  the task of cleaning the drains was given to me and also a few more course mates . After confirming everything, we meet up the next day again for roughly 30 mins where our group photo were taken .

First Meeting

Happened on the 26th April which is our very first meeting and also presentation with the entire group and lecturers that will be responsible for the task. The meeting took up to 3 hours as we were listening to each and every groups proposal ( presentations ) - things like what they planned on doing there, the activities they planned on creating for the kids there, and etc. As for my group ,

as we were responsible of redecorating the exterior part of the village, our proposal was about the colors and also the design that we will be using. The overall meeting took around 3-4 hours on average as we need to listened to all of the proposals in order to be aware of what will we and the groups be doing, not leaving out the fact where the cost that will be issued to each groups were also being explained and decided on the day. Besides, another 2 hours was spend later on after the presentation as our proposal turned out to be not user friendly and went on having a discussion solely for my group ( group 2 ) mainly about the colors and design that we will be using on the day.

Second Meeting

The second meeting took place in 28th May where mostly the transportation and schedule were discussed on the particular day so that things are all sorted our on D DAY and it took roughly about 2 hours.

The day before the actual date of us going down to the Orang Asli Village , i was needed to go down  all the way from my house to Taylor's University to have a final meeting with my lecturer to make sure that everything is well prepared, the meeting itself on that day took around 30 minutes as my group leader is discussing about whether the usage of paint be enough on that day and also will the amount of ladder be sufficient. After the discussion with our lecturer's , we were told that we will need to buy some more paint as they left out a few colors which is black and red, which will be used to paint our university logo and after confirming that that is all we need, me and my group leader spend 1-2 hours searching for places where we will be able to get our hands on the paint and later on with luck, we managed to find a nearby Kansai Paint store which is located at Sunway Mentari, just a few stores beside Mr DIY, if i remembered correctly.

16TH JUNE ( D DAY )

Before going to the village, we were asked to meet up at the university first to make sure that everyone is present during the day before heading to our destination as we didn't want to leave anyone out. After the headcount and all the briefings, we started to depart from our university to our very destination - THE ULU MELAKA ORANG ASLI VILLAGE. The overall journey took around  1 hour and 30 minutes and once we arrived at our destinations , we started doing all the things we were given the task to like cleaning the drains, washing the floor of the surrounding area and also helped painting and cleaning other ares as clearly time wasn't enough during the particular day. Lastly, after doing all the things we asked to , feeling all exhausted, we then left the village around 9-10 pm that day and arrived home respectively around 11 - 12 as me and few of my group mated decided to have dinner together after all the cleaning and stuffs.

In a nutshell, i wouldn't say that it was a exciting experience for me and i would be lying if i said so but from this community service module, instead of exciting i would say that it serves as a very meaningful experience to me as i'm able to see and learn the lifestyle of the orang asli and also be a part of this amazing group of people to help make improve their style of livings.Last but not least , the thing i wanna say is that i personally very much appreciate this particular experience as i find that through this experience it will help make me become an interior designer that understands more about the culture and the lifestyle of people not only living in the city but anywhere around the world and would one day have the ability to make a difference to the society.
